Mauser Kar 98k Zf-41 Pictures (lots of pics)

I got me a new camera tripod, so was trying it out today. It's been a while since I started a thread, so thought that I would share some of the pics. Since this is Mauser Central, it is only fitting to show pics of a Mauser. I got this one some years ago from an antique dealer that bought a bunch of stuff from a vet's relative. This one definitely has that been there and done that look.

The Mauser Kar 98k Zielfernrohr-41 (telescopic sight 1941) sharpshooters rifle was introduced officially on 14 July 1941. This is an early Zf-41 rifle, produced by Mauser at their Berlin-Borsigwalde plant in 1941. The rifle has all matching serial numbered parts.

Notice that there is no lateral groove running the length of the scope mounting bar. Only the earliest examples lack the groove.

This Zf-41 telescope was manufactured by Dr. F.A. Wohler Optische Fabrik of Kassel.

This is the carrying can for protecting the scope during movement. It was manufactured by Wessel & Muller of Luckenwalde. The carrying can is serial numbered to the scope.

Under the little hinged door in the carrying can's lid is a cleaning cloth. The little tube to the right of the scope held a horsehair brush, which is missing.

Marysdad is blessed when it comes to finding deals like that.......or he has a lot of bodies buried in his backyard. Laughing
I haven't got to shoot it yet, and if he doesn't bring it to the range next time, I'm going to continue that rumor about the bodies. Twisted Evil

Surly a beautiful piece. I have seen many at one of the shows I frequent, but can't afford.
Now aren't you going to tell everyone that you bought it for $500 and really rub it in?

I sure wish that you guys wouldn't post things like this. I was just looking at a 98k at my LGS and since he hadn't priced it yet, he put my name on it to call me with a price. I just know that I am going to have to have it. Rolling Eyes
