Unique works pretty well.

Trail Boss. 9gr with a 175gr cast bullet.

You can easily get to 15gr on a gas checked bullet.

It depends what you prefer

Lyman has an excellent cast bullet reloading manual with a lot of data. I have used Unique and IMR4895 for cast bullet loads in my 8mm rifles. Hope this helps. All the best...
Gil

 8mm mauser load ?
need a nudge in right direction

morning guy,s
thanks for the info ,last night i loaded up some rounds to take to the range today and i used the info from that great article about "the load" by harris, its dated but it's the 16grn of 4600 article ,i don't have 4600 but he lists 25.5 of h4895 i loaded that and also 21grns of re-7 and i loaded that too they are supposed to be a good substitute for "the load " so we will see (i'll let yall know tonight.) i have the lyman last cast book on backorder(uuuggg) and the new one is ordered for shipment when it hits the stores(midway,)in august some time, i can't wait, Gil.
i don't have any unique marysdad but i will get some next time out to the store and give that a try.
gunbum i didn't think of trailboss in my 8's but i'll also be trying that too ,(i originally got it for use in my 1873 trapdoor 45.70).
thanks again adrians.
yall have a great day .

 8mm mauser load ?
nudge

well i took my gew 98(danzig1916)to the range to try my loads and at 50yds it was wello.k but at 100-150 it really sucked i could hardly hit the target stand let alone the target my sight is the big "roller coaster" and it starts at 400yds yo 2000yds .
i would love for somebody to tell me how to use these sights.
(i'm not looking to shoot the eyes out of a gnat but at least hit the target,ANYWHERE would be awsome)
i will also need to up my charge abit ,,,yes/no,?
anyhoo as always in need of guidance and wisdom.have a great sunday. adrians

adrians,
One of the problems with loading cast can be too much speed on the projectile ( bullet). This causes the pill to not "spin up" properly and accuracy will suffer ( suck). I made the mistake of loading some 9mm cast bullits "hot". It was a one pill at a time scatter gun show. I even had keyholing.
We use Trailboss for cast with wheel weights and don't seem to have any problems including leading.
I don't cast for any 8mm loads though so stick with what the guys that know more than me share with ya'.

Just my 2 cents worth.
Steve
