Have about if I soda blast it, then reblue it?
For ordering parts what is my exact model number?
When I clicked on the link for parts, it was saying short hanguards, argentino hanguards,etc.., what is my model?
You want parts for a kar 98K model 98 Mauser. The stock/handguard should be laminated. Your stock is the cupped butt plate model.

You guys have been most helpful. On a good note the safety moves freely and the bolt has no rust at all inside, in fact iside the gun is just dirty, no rust.

You're welcome, glad to help!
Try to use as much of the hardware off your original stock as you can.
The ZF-41 wasn't a sniper rifle per say, it was more of a squad support weapon. When you get it cleaned up and in the stock, we'll help you track down the rest of the little pieces like the front sight hood, cleaning rod, sling, etc.
How does the bore look?

If you feel it is beyond your ability, I can arrange for you to send it to me. I will be happy to do the soak in a piece of PVC I have set up for just that purpose.
I've spent the last 3 years refurbishing old SMLE's and other milsurps coming out of a once abandoned gunshop. The owner locked up the door, and died the next day. 26 years later after no activity in the room, his grandson has gotten into it and is selling off the now rusted, moldy, and bird pooped rifles to us to refurb and sell.
I'd be happy to go through yours top to bottom and send it back. It pains me to see such an interesting piece of history slowly dissolving in to thin air.

The bore looks good, dirty but good.
I called the guy up who gave it to me and asked the history on it.
He says his father-in-law picked it up on the battlefield as is, and never did a thing to it. Says he brought it home and stuck in the garage and never touched a gun again. In fact he asked my friend to take it because he didn't want it in the house. My friend then stuck it in his garage until the other day when we were cleaning up. So it appears some german soldier modified it. As stated it was the end of the war they may have scrapped something together for the "Home Guard" (the old men and boys Hitler used, when he was running out of men)
I'm curious as to where to look to see if it has matching numbers. So far everything I looked at has a different number. I may be looking at part numbers for all I know. So where do I look for those sn numbers? I noted unlike my SKS's there is no sn on the stock.
Thanks again for all your help.

You pay shipping both ways and for whatever materials I use, and I'll do it for that.
Since it's a whole rifle you'll have to ship to my FFL, but because we are nor performing a caliber change or modifying the rifle in any way, it can be returned to you without transfer fees.

Do you have to pay any fees to your FFL?

Nope, I and he are not taking posession of the rifle, only doing a cleanup. Since it's going straight back to you there are no transfers.

Cool, where do I send it and do you just want the metal.
I also insist on paying for your time.
I asked this earlier, can you tell me where to find the SN's on this. So far I haven't found any matching numbers, but I may be looking at part numbers.
