ATI M98 Stock Hi,
I have a VZ-24 action to build a rifle on and I saw this stock without the top piece and it looked pretty good. My question is ,I'm tall and left-hnded so would this stock work for a lefty and also will I be able to add on to the LOP to make it long enough? Just trying to find a stock that dosen't break the bank and will work for me! Thanks

you can use it for left hand.., I added a 1/2 inch piece of plastic between the stock and but pad for the extra LOP, make sure to glass bed it.

Hi FM Sniper,
Thanks for the info, I beleive you're rifles built on this stock was the ones that turned me on to this. Very nice work. Do you have to install the bolt handle a certain angle different with this stock compared to another? I have a VZ-24 action with a straight bolt and will have to fix that. Any hints or tips using this stock, would be appreciated. I have one of the Parker-Hale .308 Target barrels to use also. Thanks again!

So you just don't use that fugly upper part of the stock, or is there a separate stock? It looks really good like that, but could never bring myself to buy that stock as ugly as they are.

as far as using only the lower half, you do have to modify the stock.
Glass bed

cut off the screw holders and fill with bedding
modify for side safety
open barrel channel for heavy barrels
more ATI stock pics

WOW!!! Thanks Sniper,I can see this is the way to go for me. Looks already like a fun project! I've built several FALS but this will be my first Mauser. With that Parker-Hale barrel and a Super Sniper scope I'm sure it will be bad to the bone!!! Thanks!

for texture I use car trunk paint and then paint over it, (trunk paint takes 24 hours to cure).
Sand stock first!!!!
try my Snake skin cammo design, I used the bottom metal of My sand blaster to spray the pattern

I also posted this on another thread but has anyone ever addressed the hollow butt of the ati stock?

ATI I thought in a tactical stock it was better to have one with some weight to it. I saw the McMillian A4 over the week end it was a much heavier and solid stock. I was thinking it might be better to fill in the butt cavity and not only stiffen the stock up but add some shock absorbing weight to it. Any ideas on this?

How much glass bedding stuff did u have to use per stock... seems like it would be a lot due to the large wells needing to be filled up. can you take some picks, birds eye view of the barrel sitting in the stock. seems like there is quite a gap from the side of the barrel to the stock.... I am new to glass bedding, but it seems like i need to buy quite a bit of it to fill this in. Im I wrong?
Thanks,
Dave

sounds like i am going to have a lot more work than you, due to my original barrel. A bull barrel would fill the gap i am expiriencing.
