The one under the nickel one is Outdoorsman 22 LR.
It's K frame so looks like a 38 spl. It is a forrunner of the K-22 and does not have a flat top barrel. Dom 1924
$500 for a nice one
Next one
1905 4th Change Hand ejector. 38spl. 6"
This one is 1916.
Those are not the orig grips but I have them
A forerunner of the M&P
A good one will cost you between 3 and 4 hundred

'WRF: yeah, it was the 6" /38. as I recall it was $430 or something like that, did not look to find the year made but it felt good in the hand, kinda odd, what with all the square autos and bulkly stainless steel you see nowdays..........

James, I took this pic last year right after I won the Swede from jjmitchell, and I don't remember exactly how close the lens was. I would guess probably 3 to 6 inches. The image you see above was cropped and reduced from the original pic.
Here's the original pic, reduced from 2288x1712 pixels to 800x600:
Here's a pic of the crest cropped from the original 2288x1712 pic with no resizing after cropping:

I know it isn't a military crest, but I have seen a couple drillings and a couple sporting mausers with this maker's mark. I did finally get confirmation of the maker as Oswald G. Scherell, a Prussian gunmaker located in Berlin by his grand daughter Andrea Berger-Scherell. She is still running his business making the stock oil schaftol, but no longer making guns. http://www.bitsofpieces.com/schaftol.html
It is a small ring using a standard 98 bolt. The front ring measures 1.283.
Here are the other markings which do not look like standard Imperial German proofs. Sorry about the size, I can't make it smaller and still be able to see them.

I will post a picture of the crest on my custom, if I ever pull the scope base off of it. I was told here about a year ago, that it is a Portugese short rifle model 1939, I think...

WW I German Gewehr 98. Vet bringback, not messed with. Receiver in the white, just as it left the factory.
WW II German Kar 98k Letter Code. This one is a ZF-41 Sniper, one of only 5,922 made in 1941. You can just see the clearance cut in the stock for the scope mount at the lower left.
Czech VZ-24 Year-Dated Receiver

Czech Gewehr 98 (not a 98/22)

FN1930 Greek Short rifle Picture
I know it's been drilled and tapped, but these are ones that you don't see very often, and are somwhat hard to identify.

1909 Argentine Carbine picture
This one's a little dark, but you can see the Argentine crest with the two clasped hands and the post with what appears to be a hat on top.

Czech 98/22
This is a Czechoslovakian long rifle (not carbine), that's why I beleive it's a 98/22. If you guys don't think so, I'll post pictures of the entire rifle, and we'll get it nailed down I'm sure.
A lighter background makes this photo look better.

Right on target. It's a 98/22.
