The decision needs to be based on what you are going to do with
your gun. Will it be a Varmint or Tactical Rifle, a hunting meat
go getter throw behind your truck seat ,or a custom show gun?. Also
take into consideration if your installing the stock yourself Ease
of fitting. The synthetics are pretty much ready to go and if it
needs trimmed a sharp knife a little sand paper and your done. Solid
wood and laminates usually require final inletting to snugly fit
you specific rifle. The solid wood is easier to remove material
from than the Laminate.
My overall judgment is:
A nice quality Solid wood stock for looks and depth each gun is
unique when mounted in mother natures finest. My personal favorite.
Laminate, Better Climate resistance than solid wood a little heavier,
harder to inlet for your action and according to color flashier
when showing it to your buds.
Synthetic although not much on looks its great for hunting due to
its weather / scratch resistance and weight. Also holds its integrity
in the worst conditions.
